CHARACTER GROWTH

As parents, we want our children to grow up to be good people. We want them to care about others. To work hard in school. To make a positive difference in the world. This is the journey of a child’s character. It happens through habit-building in a supportive and encouraging setting, starting in the home, and including the classroom, sports field, and job setting.

We help our students develop three specific character traits: courage, respect, and resilience.

Courage is making good choices when presented with fear and obstacles, being willing to take risks willingness and make mistakes.

Respect is thinking highly about others, and showing respect for people with different cultures, backgrounds and experiences.

Resilience, or “grit,” is sticking with something until you succeed, about having a “growth mindset” (the belief that our intelligence & skills can grow with effort).
