Sombrero Time Immersion Method

Simply put, we use Spanish to teach Spanish providing a natural approach to learning a second language.  Our instructors build this understanding by using games, movement, songs, flash cards, technology and other visual aids during instruction.  Children learn best when they are having fun!  Sombrero Time instructors do an amazing job of creating a fun environment maximizing the learning experience while building a love for language and culture.

We put an emphasis on instructional frequency which greatly enhances the learning process.  Research shows that in order for students to learn a second language AND have lasting results the frequency of exposure is critical.  This is why Sombrero Time classes are held 4 days per week & 45 minutes at each session.  Simply put, the one or two days a week approach may be convenient but it will simply not produce lasting results. How do we know this?  Great question!  Aside from our own experience, the American Counsel on the Teaching of Foreign Languages suggests that language programs designed to produce lasting results will be characterized by providing 3-5 days per week of instruction with a minimum of 30 minutes at each session.  Our frequent approach helps solidify your investment in your students education. Sombrero Time Curriculum

Sombrero Time curriculum is developed and published specifically for the immersion environment to address all areas of language development- reading, writing, listening and speaking in Spanish.  How do we know it works?  Everything we do is tested in our Education Facility located in Granite Bay, CA.  It is in this controlled “R&D” laboratory where our curriculum and methodology is refined and proven effective.

Use of Technology

Sombrero Time is an App Developer.  It is our belief that relevant use of technology can greatly enhance the learning process thus we encourage it’s use in and out of the classroom.  The Sombrero Time iPad App has been designed to help keep students engaged thereby continuously practicing their language skills. Currently in development, we are excited to present this fun, engaging and effective learning tool during the summer of 2011..

All Sombrero Time Instructors undergo extensive qualification before being considered for our team.  Once hired all instructors receive continual Professional Development.  Aside from being exclusively native speakers, Sombrero Time instructors have a rich cultural background, love of language and experience working with children.
