Meet the Owners

Ruth Finsthwait, President and CEO

Ruth holds a Masters Degree in Special Education and is a credentialed bilingual teacher.  She has extensive experience diagnosing learning disabilities and developing learning strategies for students to overcome and excel.  Earlier in her career Ruth worked as an bilingual elementary grade teacher serving inner city children where instruction was delivered primarily in Spanish. She has also worked for The Children’s Health Council (www.chconline.org) where she performed educational assessments and wrote a curriculum on learning to help students discover their personal learning profile.  As president of Sombrero Time Ruth leverages her strengths as a leader to oversee the creation of curriculum and professional development services.  She is gifted as public speaking, motivator and “potential finder”.  She loves to swim, bike and hike with her husband and three kids, sip a latte with a good friend and travel to new places.

David Finsthwait, Chief Operating Officer

David holds a B.S. degree in Kinesiology and has extensive background in business working for Silicon Valley firms such as Adobe and Cisco Systems.  David has held roles in business development, sales, marketing, customer service, and project management. He coupled his business experience with his passion for cycling in his most recent role held with Specialized Bicycle Components as Territory Sales Manager. As Chief Operating Officer at Sombrero Time Dave manages company operations and strategic development.   When he isn’t working you can find him riding bikes with his kids, enjoying conversation with Ruth or coaching CrossFit.
